Joie de Vivre 50162 Mini Fry Egg Pan with Nonstick Surface Review

(More customer reviews)I would have never bought this pan if I had seen the reviews here, but I bought it on an impulse at a cookware outlet and I'm so glad I did! My pan doesn't have any of the problems (hot handle, peeling nonstick) that the other reviewers here have experienced. I suspect that since those earlier reviews the pan has been redesigned by the manufacturer.
Whatever the reason, I absolutely love it! It's the only pan I've ever found that is the perfect size (4") for english muffins and orowheat sandwich thins. Honestly, I'm a rather practical person, so I generally don't buy things with little characters on them, but this pan has ended up being the most-used pan in my kitchen. It's perfect for making scrambled egg sandwiches, so I use it several times a week.
If the handle starts heating up or the nonstick peels off, I'll update this review, but in over six months of weekly use, it's performed like a little champ! And, over time, the cartoon egg on the handle has grown on me, it seems kind of shocked or amazed... perhaps because it has to watch me cook an egg!
BTW-The secret to light, fluffy scrambled eggs is to use a low heat and stir constantly. It takes a little longer, but it is so worth it.

(More customer reviews)The pans are solid (thought they'd be flimsy) and are made in Portugal. Always a pleasant surprise to find things not produced in China. The cakes these produce, however, look more like mutant twinkies! I used them to make a pod of whales on top of a sheet cake for a 4th birthday celebration cake. I decided not to frost them and instead used a gel pen to outline the body, a dot for the eye and drew a mouth. Then they looked liked whales.

Once they are ready to flip over from the animal shape, I flip them onto a flat square griddle to cook the other side. Much easier, and after all you really only need to see one side of the pancake to see the animal face.

Nordic Ware Pro-Cast Sweet Rides Classic Car Pan Review

(More customer reviews)These cakes are great for a themed party or just for fun. You can make cute muffins as well. You do have to ensure the cake is VERY cool before trying to remove from the pan if you want them to come out.
I have not made the recipe on the package, but I have used the pan a couple times with other recipes I have. I do know that most boxed cake mixes are too fragile and "wet." You need to modify the mix.
If you are not into decorating, you can make a sugar glaze to go over top.
Downside: requires storage space unless you do a lot of creative baking.
Note: The cake details are not as clear with chocolate cake. I made an old fashioned chocolate cake in them, and found I needed to do more decorating with icing to really bring out the fun details.
Recipe note: I have used the recipe for both the train cake pan NordicWare Platinum Collection Train Pan and the snowman cake pan Nordicware 55448 Snowman Pan and both are very good (especially the snowman, if not labor intensive).

Wilton Recipe Right Angel Food Pan Review

(More customer reviews)I have baked angel food cakes for many years and saw this pan and thought it would be great since it was make by Wilton. Angel food cakes are suppose to be turned upside down when they come out of the oven. Well the opening of the tube is to small to turn onto a bottle and since is it smaller it raises very nice so you can not rest it on anything as the cake is in the way, plus since it is non-stick is just about fell out when I tried to do this when it is warm. I believe mine will also go into the trash and I do not want to even sell it at our garage sale and have anyone else have this problem. Actually we will put it in the scrap to recycle. Wilton should know better. I am shocked they would make something this bad... Shame on them and shame on me for buying it.

Nordic Ware Pineapple Upside Down Cake Pan Review

(More customer reviews)As some of the reviews below reveal, this cake pan was manufactured to be used for the traditional pineapple upside down cake. it performs as intended when you use a standard store-bought mix or common recipe for upisde down cake. If you get all experimntal and use heavier flours with far more protein content, you cake is gonna stick. if you must use a custom low-carb recipe, you are better off making your cake in a rectangle pan.
Nordicware usually includes a basic recipe with all their pans and mine came with it. it is sometimes on the reverse of the label so don't toss the label without looking. If you need a basic recipe, there is a very good one in the betty Crocker cookbook.
Another way to avoid sticking is to grease your Nordicware pan with crisco and then spray with baker's joy. Your cake should release easily then.
Remember, these pans were not designed for high protein cakes. use your rectangle pans for those. I am always amazed at how people blame a manufacturer for not anticipating their non-standard use of their products. The pan works fine.

I was making a race car cupcake design for a 2-year-old's birthday and had to run around town trying to find more red foil liners in time to finish the design before the birthday party. Wilton Cupcake Pan Review

(More customer reviews)I tried to bake a cake yesterday using this pan and found that when the cake was fully cooked on the bottom part of the cupcake shape, the middle of the top section was still soupy cake batter. It made sense since the top section is a lot deeper than the bottom. So after baking it for another 10 minutes, I removed the pan from the oven, afraid the bottom section would be overcooked. The website says to slice off the rounded portion of the cooked cake while it's still in the pan so the cake will lay flat when you decorate it. Well, I couldn't cut the rounded top because the cake didn't rise higher than the sides of the pan. (But it did rise as much as a mix-type cake would so it's not the fault of the cake mix). So I removed the cake from the pan, let it rest for about 10 minutes and cut the rounded portion off only to find that the cake was still not cooked in the center of the top portion. I then put it back in the oven for 5 minutes, the mid-section appeared cooked but the bottom portion of the cake was as hard as a rock. The pan is poorly designed. You can't tell in the photo of the pan but the top portion of the pan is much deeper than the bottom and that is why the cake doesn't bake evenly. I was very disappointed with this product.
